Save a Life with Public Access Defibrillation
Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) means making Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available in public and/or private places with the intent to reduce the number of deaths associated with sudden cardiac arrest.
Making AEDs available through a PAD program and teaching everyone how to perform CPR saves lives.
To be authorized to place and use an AED under the New York PAD statute, an individual or organization must complete and file a Notice of Intent to provide a Public Access Defibrillation program along with a collaborative agreement with an emergency health care provider to this office. To complete this process, follow our PAD Checklist.
Any uses of an AED require the completion of a PAD Use Form. The completed form and AED data download must be submitted to this office within 48 hours of the incident.
The Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS System is proud to partner with the City of Rochester and Monroe County HeartSafe Community initiative. For more information about this effort or to find out where CPR classes are available near you, click here.
